This website is dedicated to my Father, S/SGT James Roy Barrett, his Friends and his Comrades of The Jolly Rogers, The Best Damn Heavy Bomb Group in the World Like so many other young men in the nineteen forties, my father was called to serve in the defense of his country. It was his good fortune to return from that war in one piece. He spent the duration of the war in the 'Pacific Theatre' with the "Jolly Rogers" heavy bomb group as a waist gunner on a "B-24" Liberator.
When he passed away in 1968 my mother and I placed all of his personal effects into his old 'Army' footlocker where they remain to this day. Every now and then I take that old footlocker out and have a look through it. It seems that every time I do I find something new. Inspiration for this project came about when I found a copy of the "Jolly Rogers Who's Who". In it the names of men from the USA, Canada, Australia and the U.K. who served in the Jolly Rogers during WWII. The aircraft always seem to get most of the attention on these kinds of websites. This website is dedicated not to the Aircraft but to the Men of the Jolly Rogers. Here the heroes get the the credit (and the thanks) they so richly deserve. Please enjoy your visit to The Jolly Rogers Who's Who, John Barrett Sr.
