The pilot, Brainard, Ceylon H., from Pasadena California, 1st Lt, 320 Squadron (Whale Tail), on the "Pudgy". Quoted from the book "The Jolly Rodgers Southwest Pacific 1942-1944" published by ??? but acknowledged to the editorial staff of Captain Bernard E. Stoecklein as supervisor and Master Sergent Jules F. Segal as Editor has this to say of the "Pudgy: "threw her weight around Jap skies with good results~knocking out three Zeros and retiring two of his Imperial Majesty's imperial navy. Also on the first daylight over fortress (now ex-fortress) Rabaul, she ran up her number of missions to over ninety, when last counted."
